Seven area organizations will benefit from the estate of Elizabeth "Beth" Haines of Shelby as she bequeathed nearly $78,000 to each entity. At Tuesday afternoon's Richland County Commissioners meeting, Shelby attorney Jeff Ream, who is the executor of Haines' estate, presented one of the checks to Richland County Dog Warden Dave Jordan on behalf of the Pet Adoption Center. Ream says one of the great things about the bequests is they are all unrestricted and he says that would be just like Haines, who passed away on July 25 of last year. Ream says Haines was extremely kind and generous and she would trust all of the organizations to do the right thing with the money.
