Butler Elementary School students are learning about Autism and raising money to help area families who have children with Autism. The students raised $1,069 that is being given to Debbie Melching, the founder of the Autism Awareness Walkathon held each year in Richland County. Butler Elementary Intervention Specialist Monica Stillion says collecting the pennies, counting them up and teaching peer education students about children with Autism, makes them better understand the disorder of neural development. One of the Butler classes of students raised $280 and were treated to an ice cream party for their achievement.
