MADISON, OH- A Meet the Candidates Night for the Madison Local Schools Board of Education was held Wednesday night in the Middle School Auditeria.

This year there are three candidates, vying for two school board seats. The candidates include, Doug Mosier, Adam Porter, and Melissa Walker.

Kim Boehm, Madison High School Social Studies Department Chair, explained the reasoning behind the event and the importance for the public to hear the candidates opinion on the issues.

"Its been a tradition for as long as I have been at Madison," said Boehm. " I think its really important, as a social studies teacher, that people understand who they are voting for. It's nice to be able to come out and hear what the potential candidates plan to do if they actually get on the school board."

The format for the evening included each candidate introducing themselves and then answering questions posed by Madison High School students. The questions were all created by Madison students and community members.

The candidates stressed that they would like to see more transparency by the board with community members and school district employees.

Boehm said her takeaway from the night was that the candidates are all about the students and want to do what's best for them.
