The Democratic members of Mansfield City Council held a caucus session Thursday night to discuss the replacement of retiring clerk of council Mary Hemringer.

Council president Phillip Scott said council members interviewed two candidates at the K.E. McCartney Memorial Building on South Park St. in Mansfield.

He said the clerk of council is responsible for keeping a record of council proceedings, correspondence, emails and phone calls to council members.

He said council should have a decision on the replacement next week.
