The intersection of Lexington Ave. and Prospect Ave. in Mansfield was closed for several hours Sunday afternoon following a three-vehicle accident.

Mansfield police say Carl Thompson, 63, was traveling southbound on Lexington Ave. at around 1:11 p.m. when he attempted to make a left turn onto Prospect Ave. The steering in Thompson's vehicle went out causing him to strike a telephone pole, shearing off the bottom of the pole.

The driver of the second vehicle, Sally Bushman, 82, was traveling northbound on Lexington Ave. when she ran into the telephone wires, lost control and hit another vehicle traveling southbound on Lexington Ave. driven by Laura Siclair, 27.

Mansfield Firefighters responded to the scene and removed all the victims from the vehicles safely. No one was injured in the accident.

Thompson was cited for reasonable control.
