Parents who don't want their kids eating all that Halloween candy had an alternative in Mansfield Monday.

Local dentist Dr. Craig Callen held a Halloween candy buy-back event for the second year. Children are given $1 for every pound of candy they bring in with a five-pound limit. In addition, the children receive a new toothbrush and a goodie bag of gifts from local businesses.

All of the candy collected will be sent to U.S. military troops serving overseas.

Dr. Callen says they collected 500 pounds of candy last year and hoped to bring in 1,000 pounds this year.
