Artist Tim McKee is working on a five-part mural highlighting the history of Mansfield. .. Tim McKee has written a book about early Mansfield featuring many photos which have never been published. ..
A five-part mural depicting the history of Mansfield will be completed by the end of 2008 by author/artist Tim McKee. The first section was unveiled this month at the Twisted Fig Tea Room in Mansfield's Historic Carrousel District.

The first mural section depicts the untamed wilderness, Johnny Appleseed and Mansfield's historic blockhouse. McKee says each additional section of the mural will be unveiled as completed throughout Mansfield's 200th year. The final section will be revealed around December.

McKee became interested in local history back in grade school. Since then, he has been collecting pictures and stories about his hometown.

After a few decades of wandering around the country working a wide variety of jobs in search of a use for his talents, McKee determined to become active in community service. He returned to his roots where his knowledge of local history could be of value.

Today, he works in the communications department of the Mansfield/Richland County Public Library where he can put his skills to good use.

As an author, artist, and filmmaker, McKee has found many ways to tell the stories of his hometown to inspire younger generations to find meaning in their surroundings through local lore and legends.
