The Galion/Mansfield American Legion baseball team is competing this week in Lancaster, Ohio at the double elimination Legion state baseball tournament.  Galion/Mansfield, coached by 25 year veteran coach Ray Peterson earned their way in by winning last week's district tournament by defeating two-time state champ Sandusky who came in with a record of 32-4.  Galion/Mansfield (21-15) is led by pitchers Eric Allenbaugh 7-1, .375 & Jesse First 6-1.  GM's other big hitters are Josh Gullett .350 and Mike Siwek .400.  Galion/Mansfield is competing in tournament with Harrison, Strongsville, Hillsboro/Bainbridge, Athens, Napoleon, Piqua, Marysville, Dover, Lima, Worthington & Beverly/Lowell.  Of all the teams at Lancaster, Napoleon has the most impressive record at 44-9.  In Monday's matchup, Hillsboro took it to Galion/Mansfield by a final score of 11-0.  Hillsboro pounded out ten hits to GM's three, as Jeff Hughes pitched a complete game for Hillsboro.  Galion/Mansfield will play again today against Worthington who also dropped their first game to Marysville 8-7.  In Tuesday's game against Worthington Tanner Cuffman singled and doubled and knocked in a run, while Derek Galco collected three RBI's but it was not enough as Galion/Mansfield's American Legion season ended with a 10-7 loss to Worthington in the state tournament at Lancaster.  Ray Peterson's district champs end their summer season at 21-17.
