Mary Elaine Wilson, 80, of Mansfield, Ohio passed away on Easter Sunday, April 16, 2017 under Hospice at Winchester Terrace Nursing Home. Born to Daniel Dech and Katerina (Leitenberger) Dech, she resided in Mansfield since birth.

Mary was a 1954 graduate of Mansfield Senior High School, and was retired from General Motors Acceptance Corporation. She was a consummate and devoted mother and homemaker. Mary enjoyed family gatherings, backyard cookouts, seasonal get-togethers, uplifting traditions, and annual celebrations. She was a prolific reader, and clever competitor of numerous board games, and avidly watched academic and thought provoking television programs. She was also a vivacious sports fan who was known for her neighborhood banter, defending her favorite teams to include the Cleveland "Cardiac-Kids" Browns one pitiful season after the next.

Knowing Mary meant your familiarity with her feisty, yet good sense of humor. Knowing her meant you were intimate with her contagious optimism, common sense, and "never give up the fight" like spirit. Your relationship with her encouraged keeping perspective, solid reasoning, sound judgment, decisiveness, and smart toughness. Mary’s friendship embodied trust, confidence, and togetherness one could wager their life on. As a mother and grandmother, she bestowed dedicated life’s lessons, nurturing leniency, everlasting love, and a bedrock of character and can-do built to take on the world. As wife and companion, there was nothing the universe could bring to bear that could rock her loyalty to the man she loved for over 60 blissful years! She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

We wish that we all had more time with Mary. We wish that so much of her life had not been lost to her illness, and that things could have been different for her as we searched our hearts in farewell. We know that she is at peace, and that her struggles are at an end. Although she is physically gone from us, she has left the legacy of her love and perseverance. And, as much as she filled our lives with so many qualities, memories, and grace, her passing has left a void that serves as a lasting memory of just how much the outreached selfless affection a single person can bless the life of another.

Mary was preceded by the love of her life, Donald "DUCK" Wilson; sisters, Elizabeth Mary (Joseph) Letizia, and Rosetta Nancy (Thomas) Brittain; brother, Joseph Thomas (Dee) Dech; and loyal wirehaired terriers, JIGS, SCRUFFY, DUFFY, MICKEY, and Ms. MOLLY.

Mary is survived by a daughter, Lynn Tracie Wilson; son, Daniel Anthony (Heather) Wilson; grandsons, Eric Michael (Shawna) Hess, Gabriel Archer Wilson, and Jacob Xavier Wilson; granddaughters, Sara Katherine Hess, and Leah Grace Wilson; great granddaughter, Joselin Olivia Hess; great grandson, Justin Joseph Hess; loving nieces, nephews, cousins; a multitude of extended family; and very dear lifelong friends.

The individual ways Mary touched our lives will remain, and we ask you to keep those memories alive by sharing them with one another.
