David E. 'Poose' Weatherspoon

David E. "Poose" Weatherspoon, 60, of Mansfield, passed away Friday, May 26, 2017 at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital. Born May 2, 1957 in Mansfield, he was the son of David Woodrow and Mildred (Weatherspoon) Hughes.

Poose attended Mansfield Senior High School and worked at Mansfield Motorsports Speedway. He was a very caring man who loved his family and friends. Always a jokester, he enjoyed his beer, cooking and listening to music. He also enjoyed sports and especially enjoyed watching the Cleveland Browns.

He is survived by three brothers, Anthony Weatherspoon, Carlton Hughes and Bruce Hughes; four sisters, Kathy (Willie) Likely, Debbie (James) Jones, Vickie Hughes and Linda Hughes; a grandchild, Reginald Henley; a host of step children; two aunts, Queen (Clayton) Davis and Dorothy Williams; an uncle, Eddie Weatherspoon; a special niece, Monique (Dwayne) Anderson; three special nephews, Willie Hughes, Mario Hughes and Dionté Hughes and a host of other nieces and nephews; and best friends, Anthony Norris, Frank Jenkins and Ben Hardin.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step father, Clifton C. Hughes; his daughter, Schmaiko Lanier; and a brother, Edward Weatherspoon.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 South Diamond Street, Mansfield conducted by Pastor Mark Cobbs. Friends may call one hour prior to the service, from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday at the funeral home. The family will also receive guests at the nieces home, 63 Linden Road, where family and friends can gather and repass.
