Bulent Servet Tasman, Jr. “Bill” age 53, died unexpectedly October 31, 2009. He was born on March 13, 1956, in Chicago, Illinois, to Bulent S. Tasman, Sr. and Dorothy R. Tasman. He lived most of his life in Mansfield, Ohio, graduating with honors from Mansfield Malabar High School in 1974. Bill attained a B.S. Degree in Political Science from the University of Utah located in Salt Lake City. In addition, he furthered his studies in Political Science at the Masters level. Bill proudly served with the U.S. Navy as part of their ROTC program. As a member of the U.S. Peace Corp, Bill spent time in Ghana, Africa, teaching math in rural villages. Bill also served as a volunteer reading tutor for the Mansfield City schools. In addition, Bill has done volunteer work at MedCentral Mansfield and could often be found lending a helping hand to those in need. He was an avid sports fan. His favorite team was the Cleveland Indians. Other interests included bicycling, reading, digital photography, watching movies and taking day trips. He recently visited his alma mater in Salt Lake City to visit friends and renew acquaintances. He was a participating member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church where he enjoyed being part of the church Bell Choir and serving as a Sunday school teacher. Bill accepted Jesus Christ into his heart and life many years ago. Those who had the good fortune to know Bill recognized that his concern for others was genuine. He lived his faith and loved talking with others. He always looked for the best in people. He is survived by his father, Bulent S. Tasman, Sr. and wife, Meral; his mother Dorothy R. Tasman; brothers, Eric Tasman and wife, Karen, Alan Tasman and wife, Judy, Jeff Tasman, Servet Tasman; and nieces and nephews, Erica, Matthew, Joshua, Sarah and Lance Tasman. A memorial service will be held Thursday, November 5, 2009, at Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Pentti Maki officiating. Friends may visit during the calling hour at the church from 10-11 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 525 W. Cook Road, Mansfield, Ohio 44907.
