Renate Metasch, 73, of Mansfield, died early Sunday morning, November 1, 2009, at her home.  Born March 2, 1936, in Dresden, Germany, she was the daughter of Arno and Anna Schreiter.  She completed trade school in Germany.  Renate and her husband, Gunther O. Metasch, immigrated to the United States in 1957.  She was a buyer for H.L. Reed Co. and worked as a secretary at Hartman Spreng.  She enjoyed gardening, especially her flowers.  She also enjoyed reading and spending time with her friends in the Breakfast Club.  Renate was a member of the Liederkranz.

Renate is survived by a sister, Marianne Hilbert of Germany; nephews and nieces, Karl Heinz Hilbert and Heidi and her family, all of Germany, Perry Arnold and family of Beaver Creek, Angela Eyerly and family of Ontario; cousins, Klaus and Irma Arnold; her pet, P.K.; and many good friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents and spouse, Gunther O. Metasch.

Funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, November 4, 2009, at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors.  Friends may visit from 12:30-2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.  Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery.  For online guest registry, please click on the link above.
