GALION, OH - The Shelby Whippets defeated the Galion Tigers on the road, 35-6.

Shelby opened the game hot, deferring the opening kick to the second half and forcing Galion to punt. Shelby QB Brayden DeVito connected with Brady Bowman on a swing pass that Bowman took 46 yards to the house, outrunning the entirety of Galion's defense. A missed extra point by Kaleb Stairs gave Shelby a 6-0 lead.

Later in the first, Shelby put together an 80-yard drive, capped off by junior halfback Marcus Gumbert cashing it in from five yards out. After a successful two-point try, Shelby extended their lead to 14.

In the second quarter, DeVito and senior wideout Nic Eyster connected on a scramble-drill touchdown. A failed two-point conversion left the score at 20-0.

Later down the line, DeVito showcased his athleticism, taking a designed QB run in from 11 yards out, a successful two-point attempt later and it was a 28-0 ballgame. To cap off the night for Shelby, DeVito connected with his big tight end Michael Shepherd for a long touchdown pass right down the seam, 35-0.

In the waning minutes of the fourth, Galion's Braxton Prosser found his cousin, Landyn, in the corner of the end zone for Galion's only score of the game.

DeVito finished the game with four total touchdowns (three passing, one rushing). Prosser finished with one touchdown to two interceptions, one coming in the end zone on the Tigers' second drive of the game to halt a great drive.

Galion falls to 4-1, earning their first loss of the season and in conference play. They welcome the Ontario Warriors (5-0, 2-0 MOAC) to Unckrich Stadium next week.

Shelby improves to 5-0, setting themselves apart as one of the best teams in not only the conference, but in their region, and will hit the road again to take on Highland (2-3, 1-1 MOAC).
