MANSFIELD, OH - Richland Academy is excited to offer two college music scholarships to high school seniors planning to participate in Music classes in college this fall. The first award is the J. Frederick “Fritz” Wolf Scholarship; a vocal scholarship in the amount of $350. This award will be given to one vocal student who is currently a high school senior and planning to participate in music in college. Applicants are required to sing one song from the Solo & Ensemble Senior High Vocal Solo Class A list.

The second award is the Dr. Thomas H. Croghan Scholarship for a contemporary music student (vocal or instrumental) in the amount of $350. This award will be given to one music student who is currently a high school senior planning to participate in music in college this fall. Applicants are required to perform one well-known song (possibly from the Great American Songbook) and to improvise 4 choruses of F, G, or C blues. Richland Academy can provide recorded rhythm tracks for the improvisation portion.

The auditions for these awards will be on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. The top two finalists will be expected to perform at the Student Music Recital at Richland Academy on Sunday, May 14, 2017 at 2 p.m. The awards will be announced and given during the recital.
