MANSFIELD, OH - In its first season under the direction of Larry Griffin, the Mansfield Symphony Chorus will present its inaugural spring choral concert, titled “Sing into Spring,” on April 30, 2017 at 2:30 PM at First Congregational Church.

This concert will celebrate the fortieth anniversary of the chorus since well-known local choral conductor Dr. Richard Wink founded it; Dr. Wink will conduct a piece on the concert.

The robust program will feature pieces by Mozart, Haydn, Berkey, Allaway, Martin, Johnson, culminated with a performance of Haydn’s Theresienmesse in Bflat. Four soloists will be featured throughout the concert: Keyonna Willis, soprano; Sarah Rhorer, alto; Andre Blosser, tenor; and Jeff MacMullen, bass. The fifty-member chorus will be accompanied by a dozen live instrumentalists including symphonic strings and African drummers.

Steve Taylor the Operations Manager for the Mansfield Symphony stated, “The Chorus Committee had talked about offering a spring choral concert for years, the idea coming from previous directors Deb Logan and Dirk Eachus. When Larry came on board last May, he was thrilled with the idea of a ‘stand-alone’ choral concert, and has planned an exciting program.”

Tickets are not required for this event, instead a suggested donation of $10 will be taken at the door. This concert is a part of the OhioHealth Symphony Series and presented by Jay Industries, with additional support from the Ohio Arts Council and the Sterkel Fund.
