ASHLAND, OH– On November 15 at 6:30 PM, the Center for Civic Life at Ashland University will be hosting a forum titled "Land of Plenty: How Should We Ensure that People have the Food They Need?"

The forum, which is free and open to the public, will be held at the Ashland Public Library.

Many communities in the nation have families who run out of food before the end of the month, children who come to school hungry, and people who sometimes have to choose between food and other necessities.

The forum will consider three main discussion points:

  1. Improve Access to Nutritious Food;
  2. Pay More Attention to the Multiple Benefits of Food; and
  3. Be Good Stewards of the Food System.

Each of these points contains several possible actions and potential trade-offs to the actions. Other topics for the discussion will include: "Are people in our community getting enough food;” “Is it nutritious;” and “What can we do.”

Dr. Louise Fleming-Dufala, director of the center, asks that people be part of the solution. “Participants will share ideas and agree on actions beneficial to the Ashland community and surrounding counties,” she said.
