MANSFIELD, OH - The Gorman Nature Center is hosting a family-friendly "Bird Day" for all ages on Saturday, February 16th.

Donations are welcome. The day's events are scheduled as follows:

8:00 AM: "Breakfast with the Birds," Breakfast and bird watching.

9:00 AM - 11:00 AM: Join Steve McKee for "A Bird in the Hand," and spend the morning with this “bird's eye” view of winter birds and bird banding. Steve will catch the birds at the GNC feeders and apply numbered metal bands to their legs for research purposes.

All Day: Spend the day birding with the Great Backyard Bird Count. Launched in 1998 by the Cornell Lab of Orinthology and National Audubon Society, the Great Backyard Bird Count was the first online citizen-science project to collect data on wild birds and to display results in near real-time.

We also encourage participants to bird watch in their own backyard and submit their results on line to http://gbbc.birdcount.org/

Call (419)-884-3764 for details or questions.
