Shawn Christy's Case To Be Transferred To Pennsylvania

AKRON, OH - Shawn Christy's case will be moved to Pennslyvania. 

Christy waived a detention hearing he was slated to appear in at the U.S District Court for the Northern District of Ohio in Akron, Ohio. 

According to Mike Tobin, U.S Attorney Spokesperson, a judge signed a warrant of removal, which will transfer the case to Pennsylvania. 

Shawn Christy is expected to be transferred on October 16th to Scranton, Pennslyvania. 

Shawn Christy was apprehended near Camp Mowana In Mansfield. Christy was hiding in a ravine and was found by a K9. Christy surrendered to authorities. 

Shawn Christy had a gun and a large knife in his possession when he was found. 

Since September 17th, nearly 100 law enforcement officers from multiple agencies both nationally, state, and local, gathered in Mansfield, Ohio under one common goal: catch Shawn Christy.

"We are most pleased that this case is resolved with Christy safely in custody and headed back to Pennsylvania to face justice," Pete Elliot, U.S Marshal for the Northern District of Ohio said. "While he may have exhibited a strong determination to avoid capture, I hope he now understands that U.S. Marshals Fugitive task forces are resolute and will not stop until they get their man."

“On behalf of the District of Eastern Pennsylvania, I want to thank our federal, state and local law enforcement partners who worked so diligently to bring this fugitive case to a successful close,” said U.S. Marshal for the District of Eastern Pennsylvania David B. Webb.  “This case represents the true definition of teamwork and dedication to the pursuit of justice. And we want to expressly thank those in the community who have shown such tremendous support of our efforts to bring Christy in safely.”   

The U.S Marshals thanked the following departments for their tremendous assistance during the investigation: Richland County Sheriff's Department, Mansfield Police Department, Ohio State Highway Patrol, Ontario Police Department, Shelby Police Department, F.B.I, Secret Service, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania Sheriff's Department Bloodhound Dog Handler, Clearfork Police Department, Mt. Vernon Police Department, Ashland County Sheriff's Department, Columbus Police Aviation Unit, U.S Border Patrol, and the Allied Special Operations Response Team (ASORT). 

All law enforcement that helped with the investigation also thanked the community for their support during the manhunt. 

Shawn Richard Christy, 27, of McAdoo, was wanted for threatening the president and other elected officials and had multiple state arrest warrants in Pennsylvania for burglary, probation violation, and failure to appear for an aggravated assault case. 

Christy has threatened to use "full lethal force on any law enforcement office that tries to detain me."
