Mansfield Police DARE Officer Retiring

MANSFIELD, OH-The Mansfield Police Department's long-time DARE Officer is close to hanging up his badge.

Jack Shay retires at the end of this month after serving 20 years as an Air Force police officer and 21 with Mansfield.

He has been the DARE Officer and Malabar Intermediate School Resource Officer for the past 15 years, a job he has found tremendously rewarding.

Shay has encountered several of his DARE students from years past and they were quick to tell him they are doing well and not abusing drugs or alcohol or getting into legal trouble. 

Jack Shay will be replaced as DARE and Malabar School Resource Officer by Orlando Chapman, a Mansfield Senior High School graduate.

    Thursday afternoon, a motion was filed by alleged serial- killer Shawn Grate's defense attorneys to request that at least $14,500 be approved by the Court for use toward "additional testing, evaluation, consultation, travel, etc." in regards to utilizing a New Mexico neuroimaging company called Mindset Consulting Group.

    Kingwood Center staff unveiled the new Ohio Brass exhibit to the public, displaying a number of artifacts that were preserved from the company before it was bought by Hubbell Power Systems in 1978.
