ERIE, PA - The man who's accused of murder, then posting a video of it on Facebook is dead.

State police say 37-year-old Steve Stephens was found Tuesday in Erie, Pennsylvania.

After a brief pursuit, Stephens shot and killed himself.

Cleveland Police Chief Calvin Williams says authorities had hoped to bring Stephens in alive.

"We would like to have brought Steve in peacefully and really talked to him to find out why this happened," Chief Williams says. "There might be people out there in similar situations and we could help by finding out why he did what he did and what drove him to this."

Stephens was wanted for killing 74-year-old Robert Godwin Sr., in Cleveland, as Godwin was walking home from an Easter meal.

Stephens then posted a video of the murder on Facebook.

Seconds before the shooting, Stephens asked Godwin to say the name of a woman believed to be associated with the suspect.
