'Heavy Black Smoke' Fills Warehouse In Early Morning Fire

MANSFIELD, OH - Around 7:38 a.m. Wednesday, fire crews responded to 126 N. Franklin Street for a structure fire. 

The building is marked as New Haven Supply, however, according to Mansfield Fire Cheif Steven J. Strickling, the business in there now works on older cars. 

"Light smoke was coming out of the roof of the building upon arrival", stated Strickling. The occupant of the space arrived on the scene and was able to unlock the front door for crews to enter. 

Strickling informed WMFD that they were able to find the seed of the fire using a thermal imaging camera. 

Due to the large volume of the space, the building needed extensive time to ventilate. The fire investigative team along with codes and permits are still determining the cause of the fire. 

No further details are available at this time.
