It's Greek Festival Weekend in Entertainment News

MANSFIELD, OH - It's a busy weekend ahead in North Central Ohio entertainment news...

The annual Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Greek Festival returns to Mansfield this weekend for lovers of gyros, other Greek foods, pastries and Greek tradition. 

Admission is just $2.00 and includes a ticket for a free soda or bottle of water. The festival runs May 19-21, from 11 a.m. - 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. Sunday. 

Enjoy the BEST Greek cuisine, authentic smells and tastes, Greek music, live bands, authentic Greek dancing and hand-made Greek pastries during the three day festival.

The 35th annual Spring Dance Concert featuring the students of Opus II Dance Studio and Ashland Regional Ballet is May 19 & 20, at 7:30 p.m., on the campus of Ashland University - Hugo Young Theatre. 

Each year Ashland Regional Ballet presents a special production with this being the year for "Cinderella", choreographed by Founder Hellie Schussler. This marks the 4th time this ballet has been revisited with a few slight changes to the original production.

Performances are open to the public with tickets available through the A.U. Box Office by calling 419-289-5125 or online through ashland.edu/tickets.

The Maize Memorial Dog Park will host a food drive for cats and dogs Saturday, May 20th, in two time segments: 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. and again later that afternoon from 4 p.m. - 6 p.m.  This is your opportunity to drop off dog and cat food for the shelter animals.

Other events at the park will include "Bring Your Rescue Dog to the Park" and share stories with other rescue friends. Bring your cash as homemade dog treats will be on sale for the Maize Dog Park to be used for summer maintenance.

The Monroe Twsh Lucas Fire Dept will host a pancake breakfast with other delicious breakfast items this Saturday morning from 7 a.m. - 11 a.m. at their fire house at 43 South Union Street in Lucas.  Admission is by donation so, if you can, be generous in your giving.

Proceeds from the breakfast will benefit the Danny Hooper Scholarship Fund and the Firefighter's Association.  --

Celebrating the life of Lori Miller, Saturday, May 20, it's a benefit for the young daughter of Lori Miller, six year old Delaney. 

The benefit is being held at the Grotto Hall in Mansfield from 2 p.m. until 11 p.m. for a full afternoon and evening of events and live music. Bands and groups are giving their time for this event including the "Rough Country Band", "Jai Merina", "Perfectly Damaged", just to name a few artists. 

During the event, there will be a wine pull, silent auction, and bake sale to generate money for the cause.
