SOLD! Shelby Fire Dept. Auctioned Off '63 Willy's Fire Jeep

SHELBY, OH - The Shelby Fire Department has auctioned off their 1963 Willy's Model CJ-3B Jeep in order to raise money for new equipment. 

The final bid: $26,562.

Richard Kimball of West Liberty was the winner of the CJ-3B Jeep. The second highest bid was $13,610, and third was $9,000.

A total of 23 bids were received, with one out of California according to Shelby Councilman Garland Gates. 

The vehicle, which has only ever been owned by the Shelby Fire Department, was available for public viewing back on June 10th at the Shelby Fire Department located at 10 East Main Street in Shelby.

The minimum acceptable bid on the Jeep was five thousand dollars, with ten percent of the bid included with the proposal form via check or cash.

Bids were received up until Friday at 12 p.m. at Shelby City Hall. The historic vehicle, which was used as a grass truck from 1963 to 2017, was a true ideal item for interested collectors.
