Stand Off Ends Peacefully On Columbus Circle In Ashland

ASHLAND, OH - A standoff between an Ashland man and police has ended peacefully.

Ashland Police responded to reports of a man who barricaded himself in a home and threatened to harm himself at 1116 Columbus Circle South after receiving a call at 8:31 p.m., Wednesday.

Ashland Police had activated the Ashland Special Response Team with assistance from various other units, including officers of the Allied Special Operation Response Team (A.S.O.R.T.) from Mansfield, the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Ashland County Sheriff's Office and the Ashland Fire Department, with added support from the Ashland County Emergency Management Agency and the American Red Cross.

Police had Columbus Circle South, from Wilson Court to Mifflin Avenue blocked, as well as all of Cooper Drive to Mifflin Avenue and Patricia Lane.

The man surrendered to police Thursday morning.

A temporary shelter was set up at the Ashland City Schools Bus Garage for residents who had been displaced by the incident.
