BUCYRUS, OH – The Bucyrus community continued to show its generosity towards children during the regular meeting of the Bucyrus City School District Board of Education on October 26.

During the meeting, the Bucyrus Elks Lodge #156, through the Elks National Foundation Grand Lodge, awarded a $2,000 Beacon Grant to the Bucyrus Backpack Program.

“We are very thankful to receive support from the Bucyrus Elks Lodge #156,” said Backpack Program Board of Directors President Lorie Pennington. “This shows our community’s passion for supporting its children and the Elks Lodge #156’s commitment to helping put an end to childhood hunger in Bucyrus.”

“The Bucyrus Elks Lodge #156 is very proud to be a community partner with the Bucyrus City School District,” said Elks Lodge #156 representative David Smith. “Elks members continue to see the need for this program in our community, and through the Elks National Foundation Community Investments Program the local Bucyrus Elks Lodge #156 will continue to provide financial support to bring good nutrition to our community’s children.”

Currently serving more than 100 families in the district, the Bucyrus Backpack Program is continuing to grow and these funds will help in that effort.

The next regular meeting of the Bucyrus City School District Board of Education will begin at 7:00 PM in the Lincoln Administrative Center Thursday, November 16.
