Ontario Student Injured When Struck By Pickup In Crosswalk

ONTARIO, OH - An Ontario High School student was injured when he was struck by a pickup truck that was driving on Shelby-Ontario Road Tuesday morning.

Upon arrival, responders located a 15-year-old freshman male student lying in the road, approximately 30 feet in front of the pickup.

The student, who was struck while crossing the road in a crosswalk, was conscious and was transported to the hospital by Springfield Township EMS.

The pickup was stopped just south of the crosswalk and had been traveling south when the crash occurred.

The student was walking to school and was attempting to cross in the crosswalk, walking east to west.

The student had visible injuries at the scene and was treated and transported by Springfield Township EMS to OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital where he received additional treatment.

The pickup was driven by a 40-year-old Mansfield man.

The Mansfield post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol assisted in gathering evidence and the incident remains under investigation.

Any applicable charges will be determined upon completion of the investigation.
