MANSFIELD, OH - After a violent incident in August that led to a Mansfield man cutting the throats of several puppies, the man accused has now received his sentencing.

38-year-old Christopher Vandenberg was formally charged with four fifth-degree felonies after slitting the throats of four pit-bull puppies to spite his wife, who was not home at the time of the attack. Vandenberg appeared in court today, pleading no contest to the charges.

The court sentenced Vandenberg to 3 years and 4 months in prison, along with an order of restitution in the amount of $2,203 to go to the Humane Society for nursing the animals back to health. All of the puppies survived the attack and were later adopted into loving homes.
