Shackled Inmate Escapes Butler County Courthouse

BUTLER COUNTY, OH- An Ohio man is back in custody, after escaping courthouse police while shackled, cuffed, and wearing a bright green jumpsuit.

The prisoner, David Zeke Combs, was in court for a misdemeanor theft charge. He noticed the officer was distracted and runs out a nearby door that is supposed to have an alarm. The alarm, however, did not go off.

As he shuffled down the street in his handcuffs and bright jumpsuit, an elderly woman thought he looked cold and gave him a sweater, which did partially obscure his prison garb.

But Combs luck soon ran out as motorists began noticing his strange appearance and called 911.

Within a few minutes, police had Combs back in custody.

Sheriff Jones says the courthouse door alarm is now fixed.  

Combs now faces an additional felony escape charge.
