BUCYRUS, OH - Teens hanging out in the teen room at Bucyrus Public Library on Monday were given a chance to do something uncharacteristic of a library: Make Noise. The one condition? The noise had to be created by popping bubble wrap.

Bucyrus Public Library put on Bubble Wrap Appreciation Day on Monday, January 29th to celebrate the packaging material, often used as a stress reliever, a toy or a simple distraction.

Sherry Seiler, Teen Librarian for Bucyrus Public Library, says the day is all about having fun and doing something different for the kids.

"Everybody loves bubble wrap," Seiler said. "Occasionally, somebody turns (the bubble wrap) down."

The unique celebration came from an idea Seiler had seen online, and for several years, she has repeated the event.

The Library functions as normal - there are no decorations, no signage and no indication of anything different happening - other than a large stack of bubble wrap behind Seiler's desk and the occasional flourish of popping sounds.
