MANSFIELD, OH - On April 20th, 1999, the small town of Littleton, Colorado made headlines worldwide when one of the first major "mass casualty incidents" occurred - the Columbine High School Massacre. The incident marked a new chapter in American history as copycat incidents involving gun violence began occurring almost regularly, continuing into this year.

Mansfield's Grace Episcopal Church, located at 41 Bowman Street, will be holding a prayer vigil on April 19th, on the eve of the 19th anniversary of the Columbine Massacre, inviting the public to join them in prayer and spiritual healing. The vigil will begin with prayers at Central Park, followed by a march to Grace Church for a special service featuring a Mansfield Senior High student speaker.

As a pamphlet announcing the event proclaims, "These are not partisan events and we know we will not agree about the causes or solutions for this crisis of evil in our culture, but we can all agree that we, as Christians, are called to pray, listen, and act as God directs us."

The prayer vigil will take place Thursday, April 19th at Mansfield's Central Park.
