Arrests Made After Man Attempts To Flee From Ashland Police

ASHLAND, OH - Two people are arrested after a man tried to flee from police officers on Saturday. 

On Saturday, May 12th around 7:16 pm, Ashland Police Division-Officers and Ashland EMS responded to 1513 Cottage Street (Ashland Village Apartments) to a report of an unresponsive male sitting in a truck.

The 911 caller told the dispatcher that an unconscious male inside a white truck was turning bluish and purple.

Witness said the male woke up before Officers arrived.

The male attempted to flee and threw a jar containing suspected Crystal Meth, then he struggled with the Officers and according to dispatch records, a taser was deployed to stop the aggression toward the Officers.

The suspect said he was staying with his girlfriend in apartment C there at the Ashland Village Apartments.

The male later identified as William Hayes, 22, of Sullivan, Ohio was booked into the Ashland County Jail for the following according to Jail records:

AGGRAVATED POSSESSION OF DRUGS; SCHEDULE 1, OR 2; EQUALS OR EXCEEDS BULK AMOUNT BUT LESS THAN 5 TIMES BULK AMOUNT (2925.11) 
RESISTING ARREST; PHYSICAL HARM (2921.33)
PROBATION VIOLATION (2951.08)

The female identified as Danielle Hummel, 23, of Ashland, Ohio was booked into the Ashland County Jail for the following according to Jail records:

PERMITTING DRUG ABUSE; (2925.13)

All charges are subject to review by the Ashland County Prosecutor.

Today, Ashland Police Division Officers, along with Detective Curt Dorsey, METRICH Detective Brian Evans, Ashland County Sheriff’s METRICH Detective Viloria, served a Search Warrant at 1513 Cottage Street Apt-C.

The Search Warrant yielded results and could warrant more charges.

This morning Ashland Police Division METRICH Detective Brian Evans filed the following charge today in the court of common pleas.

The charges are as follows:

COUNT ONE: AGGRAVATED POSSESSION OF DRUGS (Section 2925.11(A) of the Ohio Revised Code), a felony of the third degree.

In that on or about May 12, 2018, in Ashland County, Ohio, William W. Hayes, Jr., knowingly obtained, or possessed, or used a controlled substance, to wit: Methamphetamine, a schedule Il controlled substance in an amount exceeding the bulk amount, but less than 5 times the bulk amount, in violation of Ohio Revised Code Section 2925.11(A) AGGRAVATED POSSESSION OF DRUGS, a felony of the third.
