MARION, OH - The Marion Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a serious injury crash that occurred around 2:55 a.m. Saturday on Owens Road at the intersection of Dunbar Road in Pleasant Township.

Lance Fisher, 33, of Marion, was riding a 1996 Honda XR250R dirtbike westbound on Owens Road when he was rear-ended at a stop sign by Nathan Fleming, 32, of Marion, who was riding a 1984 Honda 3 Wheeler.

According to Highway Patrol, preliminary investigation indicates that Mr. Fisher's dirtbike had inadequate lighting to the rear prior to being struck, while Mr. Fleming failed to maintain an assured clear distance.

Both drivers were initially transported to Marion General Hospital, though Mr. Fleming was eventually transported to Grant Medical Center in Columbus. Helmets were not used and alcohol is suspected to be a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.

Troopers were assisted on scene by the Marion County Sheriff's Office, Pleasant Township Fire and EMS, Marion Township Fire and EMS, and Buckeye Collision.
