Injury Crash In Marion Turns Fatal

MARION, OH - Troopers from the Marion Post continue to investigate a crash that occurred on Thursday, July 12, 2018, at 3:35 pm on Owens Rd. and Maple Grove Rd. in Marion County.

The crash involved a silver 2007 Hyundai Entourage driven by Emmett G. Ledford, 87, of Marion and a red 2013 Freightliner driven by Thomas E. Wagner, 45, of Edison. Mr. Ledford was northbound on Maple Grove Rd. stopped at Owens Rd. Mr. Wagner was westbound on Owens Rd. approaching Maple Grove Rd. Mr. Ledford failed to yield attempting to turn left onto Owens Rd. The Hyundai was struck by the Freightliner and both vehicles were pushed off the south side of the roadway.

Mr. Ledford was transported to Marion General and later taken to Grant Hospital in Columbus. Mr. Wagner suffered minor injuries and refused medical treatment at the scene. Mr. Ledford and Mr. Wagner were wearing their seatbelts.

On July 18, 2018 Mr. Ledford passed away at Grant Hospital.

The crash remains under investigation.
