Mount Vernon Man Dies In Motorcycle Versus Car Crash

MOUNT VERNON, OH - A Mount Vernon man died as the results of injuries he received in a two-vehicle crash on State Route 3 in Monroe Township in Knox County.

The crash happened around 1:25 p.m. Saturday.

The Mount Gilead post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol says 83-year-old Lawrence H. Huffman was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The patrol says Huffman was riding a 1995 Honda Gold Wing motorcycle southwest on State Route 3 when he crossed the solid double-yellow center-line.

His motorcycle was struck by a car driven northeast on State Route 3 by a 2015 Chevrolet Impala by 66-year-old Raymond P. Conner of Mount Vernon.

Huffman was ejected from the motorcycle as a result of the impact and was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Conner, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, was treated at the scene for non-incapacitating injuries

Two passengers in his car were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash and were not injured.

The patrol continues to investigate the crash.
