Arrests Made After Eight Month Investigation In Knox County

MOUNT VERNON, OH - An eight-month-long investigation has ended in two arrested. 

The Knox County Sheriff's Office executed a search warrant located at East Ohio Avenue in Mount Vernon. The coordinated operation involved two residences in Columbus and one residence in Marion. 

Suspected drugs, drug paraphernalia, electronic devices, safes, a surveillance system, cash, and ammunition were seized from the Ohio Avenue location. 

Methamphetamine, cocaine, heroin, pills, and marijuana were seized from the other locations, in addition to over a dozen firearms and cash. 

Lisa M. Poole, age 55, and Nola Smith, age 44 were arrested at the Ohio Avenue location. 

Poole was arrested on charges of aggravated trafficking in drugs, possession of drugs, and permitting drug abuse. 

Smith was arrested on an outstanding warrant. 

More arrests were made at other locations related to the investigation.

The investigation, which started eight months ago, was initiated by Detectives from the Knox County Sheriff's Office. Detectives were targeting Columbus area and local drug dealers that were delivering a continuous and significant amount of illegal drugs to the Knox County area.

The case remains under investigation and further charges are possible. 

The Mount Vernon Police Department, Columbus Police Department, Marion Police Department, Ohio State Highway Patrol, and the Morrow County Sheriff's office assisted in the operation.
