MANSFIELD, OH - An accident that occurred Monday evening left three cars badly damaged and sent their occupants to the hospital.

Around 8:45 PM Monday night, three cars in the southbound lane of Trimble Road collided in the area of a Moto Mart gas station. A maroon Nissan Altima was in the front of the formation, followed by a teal Chevy Cobalt behind it, and a white Chevy Cruze followed in the rear of the Cobalt.

While the details of the accident are still unknown, witnesses on the scene say the occupants of the Altima and the Cobalt were transported to Avita Hospital and OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital, respectively. Their conditions are currently unknown.

The damage done to each of the cars was extensive, with the most damage being done to the Cobalt in the middle of the accident. The Cobalt's drivers-side passenger door was lodged in the driver's door itself, with the entire left side of the vehicle being ripped from the body of the car by the impact.

The accident is still under investigation, and it is not yet known if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.
