Fatal Crash Leaves One Woman Dead In New Haven Township

NEW HAVEN TOWNSHIP, OH- The Norwalk Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is currently investigating a two-vehicle fatal injury crash that occurred on Sunday, September 2nd at 10:06 PM at the intersection of SR 103 and Peru Center Road in New Haven Township, Huron County.

A 2007 Honda Accord was southbound on Peru Center Road. The Honda failed to yield from a stop sign and entered the intersection of SR 103. The Honda was struck on the left side by a westbound 2009 Mercury Mariner. After impact, both vehicles came to rest on the south-west side of the intersection.

The Honda was being driven by Paula J. Fraley, age 50, of Mansfield, Ohio. Ms. Fraley, who was wearing her seatbelt, sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash. She was transported from the scene to Willard Mercy Hospital where she was pronounced deceased. A passenger in the Honda, Ms. Fraley’s 12-year-old daughter, sustained non-incapacitating injuries. She was transported to Willard Mercy Hospital where she was treated. She was also wearing her seatbelt.

The Mercury was being driven by Kennadi E. Martin, age 17, from Norwalk, Ohio. Ms. Martin sustained minor injuries and was wearing her seatbelt. A passenger in the Mercury also sustained minor injuries. Mariah P. Slater, age 17, also of Norwalk was in the front passenger seat and was wearing her seatbelt.

Alcohol is not suspected as a factor in the crash. The patrol was assisted at the scene by the Willard Police Department, Willard Fire and EMS, and Wilcox Towing. The crash remains under investigation.
