Mansfield Man Dead After Motorcycle Versus Car Crash

MORROW COUNTY - A 63-year-old Mansfield mn succumbed to his injuries following a Motorcycle vs. Car crash that occurred Wednesday evening in Morrow County.

The Mount Gilead post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating the crash, which took place at 5:55 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of State Route 288 and State Route 19. 

William H. Roop was driving a 2001 Suzuki Intruder LC motorcycle westbound on SR228 when he failed to stop at a stop sign and struck a 2018 Toyota Camry that had been traveling northbound on State Route 19. Mr. Roop was ejected from the motorcycle as a result of the crash. Roop would be transported by Ambulance to Galion Community Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. Roop was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

Alisha A. Prince, 31, of Galion, was driving the 2018 Camry and had three adolescents aged 8, 6 and 11 in the vehicle with her at the time of the accident. Ms. Prince and the 8-year-old suffered non-incapacitating injuries during the incident and neither were transported. The 6 and 11-year-old's were unharmed.

Alcohol and drugs are not suspected factors in this crash at this time.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is handling the investigation and was assisted on scene by Morrow County EMS, Troy Township Fire Department and EMS, and the Iberia Fire Department. The incident remains under investigation.
