RICHLAND COUNTY - As the Shawn Christy manhunt continued through the day Thursday, The US Marshalls Service gave an update via a press release sent out around noon. That release is as follows:

"The U.S. Marshals, FBI, U.S. Secret Service, and multiple state and local law enforcement agencies in northern Ohio are still searching the Mansfield area trying to find a Pennsylvania man wanted for threatening the president and other elected officials.

Shawn Richard Christy, 27, of McAdoo Pennsylvania also has multiple state arrest warrants in Pennsylvania for burglary, probation violation, and failure to appear for an aggravated assault case. Christy has threatened to use “full lethal force on any law enforcement officer that tries to detain me.”

A post created Wednesday on Christy’s father’s Facebook account stating: “Ohio State Police just given orders to shoot to kill Shawn Christy” is false. No law enforcement agency involved in the search has been given or would ever give such an order.

Authorities believe Christy stole a pickup in the early morning hours of Sept. 16 from Skitco Iron Works in Hazelton Township, Pennsylvania, and that he crashed the stolen vehicle near the I-71 and Ohio 13 interchange near Mansfield that night and is on foot in the region.

Area residents should remain vigilant and report anything they find suspicious, such as food, water, clothing or other necessities suddenly missing from homes, storage areas or garages. They are also reminded to keep homes, out buildings and vehicles locked.

A federal warrant was issued June 19 for Christy in relation to Facebook threats to the Northampton County district attorney, stating, “Keep it up Morganelli, I promise I’ll put a bullet in your head as soon as I put one in the head of President Donald J. Trump.”

The U.S. Marshals have been attempting to capture Christy, who is 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighs approximately 150 pounds, is a white male with a light complexion, a tattoo of a cross on his right upper arm, short, dark blonde hair and a beard. Christy also speaks with a noticeable lisp and claims to be a survivalist.

Federal authorities are offering a cash award of up to $20,000 for information leading to the direct arrest of Christy. Any information will be considered confidential. Persons having information should contact the U.S. Marshals at 1-866-4-WANTED or text keyword WANTED and the tip to TIP411 (847411). Christy should be considered armed and dangerous. Individuals should not attempt to arrest Christy themselves."

Around 1:20 Thursday authorities called all units to the area of Cook Road, SR13 and Woodville road in Mansfield Crews on scene had gotten tips that Christy was in the area. According to Scanner Traffic, a man matching Christy's description was seen running south on Danwood road, crossing Cook road and entering the woods. Police were able to surround the area in question, but after a search that lasted nearly 3 hours, it appeared the search party had come up with nothing. Around 4:30p.m. that search group broke up and the hunt continued elsewhere.

According to Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers, authorities responded to a one-vehicle crash on I-71 near mile marker 171 in the northbound lane on Sunday. The driver fled the scene, leaving behind a white 2002 GMC utility truck. The truck had Pennsylvania license plates and was confirmed to be stolen from Skitco Iron Works in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania.

The suspect in question, Shawn Richard Christy, is 26 years old. He is described as a white male with short brown hair and green eyes. Christy is 5'10" and weighs roughly 165 pounds. He has a tattoo on his upper right arm of a cross with barbed wire.

Christy may be in possession of several stolen handguns and should be considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information on Christy's whereabouts is advised to call police or the FBI. Christy has made numerous threats that if confronted, he will resort to violence. Residents are advised to seek shelter, secure all vehicles and building entrances, and ensure that no keys are left in vehicles.
