MARION, OH - Troopers from the Marion, Mansfield, and Bucyrus posts will be focusing on failure to yield violations in Marion County from October 7th through the 20th.

The Patrol will also be assisted by the Aviation Unit.

In total, 51,978 crashes on Ohio's roadways occurred when the at-fault driver failed to yield. These crashes tend to be more severe than other types of crashes. Last year, 207 deaths and 30,443 injuries were the results of failure to yield crashes.

In Marion County alone, five people have died this year in traffic crashes as a result of failure to yield violations. Four of those crashes have occurred within the last four months.

"We know traffic can be frustrating," Lt. Lance Shearer, Marion Post Commander, said. "Motorists should remain calm, be aware of your surroundings and yield for vehicles that have the right-of-way."
