ONTARIO, OH - Local residents gathered in front of the Ontario Walmart for the Annual Sleep Out for the Homeless.

The goal of the sleep out was to raise money and receive donations in order to help combat homelessness in Richland County. Donations that the Harmony House are looking for include regular household goods, such as  bedding, pillows, toiletries, and cleaning supplies.

"All of those things that you use on a daily basis that we just take for granted are necessities for people who are homeless and don't have access to them." Kelly Blankenship, CEO of the Harmony House, said.

Participants slept in boxes in the parking lot in order to raise awareness for the homeless situation in Richland County. The sleep out runs from 10 AM to 10 PM on Friday, November 2nd.

Last year, the event raised $4,000 for the Harmony House.
