ONTARIO, OH - The City of Ontario's Chairman of Economic Development, Mark Weidemyre, announced at Wednesday night's City Council meeting that the City of Ontario had officially regained the property of the former General Motors plant after completing all the paperwork attached to it.

Weidemyre was hopeful that with the property back under the control of local business owners, the property could be used to help boost business in the Ontario area.

"It transferred on Monday. We officially have the deed and the title to the property this week," Weidemyre said. "There's been a lot of interest. The mayor has been contacted by several companies. There's just a lot of options open. I think we'll get it filled up and get some jobs back into the city."

The City Council is planning to bring a group out to the site to see for themselves what needs to be worked on and what each area of the property could be used for soon.
