Former Ashland OHP Trooper Pleads Guilty To Felony Charges

ASHLAND, OH - A former Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper has entered a plea of guilty to two felony counts and two misdemeanor counts. 

44-year-old Tyler Anderson pled guilty to two counts of Illegal Use of a Minor in Nudity-Oriented Material or Performance, each second-degree felonies. Those charges each have a potential prison sentence of 2 to 8 years.

In addition, Anderson pled guilty to two counts of Voyeurism, first-degree misdemeanors that each carry a potential 180-day jail term.

Anderson Will also be classified as a Tier Il offender.

Prosecuting Attorney Christopher Tunnell explained that the four charges cover four separate victims, who were filmed in various states of nudity over a time period spanning between December 28, 2016 and August 31, 2018. The women range in age from 14 to I8 years of age.

Anderson was arrested in August on a second-degree felony charge. 

Tunnell was previously quoted as saying, "I hope this does not erode the public trust in our local law enforcement community. Our Ashland County law enforcement officers are outstanding and dedicated public servants."

l, Christopher R. Tunnell, Prosecuting Attorney of this County, say by way of information that TYLER N. ANDERSON, the Defendant, on or about the period between December 28, 2016 and August 31, 2018, did in this County violate Section 2907.323(A)(1) of the Ohio Revised Code, a felony of the second degree, ILLEGAL USE OF MINOR IN NUDITY-ORIENTED MATERIAL OR PERFORMANCE; and on or about the period between December 28, 2016 and August 31, 2018, did in this County violate Section 2907.08(D) of the Ohio Revised Code, a misdemeanor of the first degree, VOYEURISM, (IA: Ashland County Sheriff’s Office):

COUNT ONE ILLEGAL USE OF MINOR IN NUDITY-ORIENTED MATERIAL OR PERFORMANCE (Section 2907.323(A)(1) of the Ohio Revised Code), a felony of the second degree.

In that on or about the period between December 28, 2016 and August 31, 2018, in Ashland County, Ohio, Tyler N. Anderson photographed a minor child, to wit: "Debbie Doe" (DOB: xx-xx-2000), who was not the said Tyler N. Anderson's child or ward, in a state of nudity, or created, directed, produced, or transferred any material or performance that shows the said "Debbie Doe" in a state of nudity, in violation of Ohio Revised Code Section 2907.323(A)(1), ILLEGAL USE OF MINOR IN NUDITY-ORIENTED MATERIAL OR PERFORMANCE, a felony of the second degree.

COUNT TWO. ILLEGAL USE OF MINOR IN NUDITY-ORIENTED MATERIAL OR PERFORMANCE (Section 2907.323(A)(1) of the Ohio Revised Code), a felony of the second degree.

In that on or about the period between December 28, 2016 and August 31, 2018, in Ashland County, Ohio, Tyler N. Anderson photographed a minor, to wit: "Mary Doe" (DOB: xx-xx-2002), who was not the said Tyler N. Anderson's child or ward, in a state of nudity, or created, directed, produced, or transferred any material or performance that shows the said "Mary Doe" in a state of nudity, in violation of Ohio Revised Code Section 2907.323(A)(1), ILLEGAL USE OF MINOR IN NUDITY-ORIENTED MATERIAL OR PERFORMANCE, a felony of the second degree.

COUNT THREE VOYEURISM (Section 2907.08(D) of the Ohio Revised Code), a misdemeanor of the first degree.
In that on or about the period between December 28, 2016 and August 31, 2018, in Ashland County, Ohio, Tyler N. Anderson, secretly or surreptitiously videotaped, filmed, photographed, or otherwise recorded another person, to wit:

'Linda Doe" (DOB: xx-xx-2000), under or through the clothing being worn by the said "Linda Doe" for the purpose of viewing the body of or the undergarments worn by the said "Linda Doe", in violation of Ohio Revised Code Section 2907.08(D), VOYEURISM, a misdemeanor of the first degree.

COUNT FOUR VOYEURISM (Section 2907.08(D) of the Ohio Revised Code), a misdemeanor of the first degree.

In that on or about the period between December 28, 2016 and August 31, 2018, in Ashland County, Ohio, Tyler N. Anderson, secretly or surreptitiously videotaped, filmed, photographed, or otherwise recorded another person, to wit. "Jane Doe" (DOB: xx-xx-1998), under or through the clothing being worn by the said "Jane Doe" for the purpose of viewing the body of or the undergarments worn by the said "Jane Doe", in violation of Ohio Revised Code Section 2907.08(D), VOYEURISM, a misdemeanor of the first degree.

Contrary to Section(s) 2907.323(A)(1) and 2907.08(D) of the Ohio Revised Code, and against the peace and dignity of the State of Ohio.
