RICHLAND COUNTY - It's (almost) that time of year! Snow Trails resort in Mansfield has begun the process of making snow in preparation for what they hope will be a great winter.

Every year when weather conditions start to turn towards winter, Snow Trails staff begin the process of pumping moisture into the air to encourage snowfalls on their many slopes. This is the first step in building a solid snow base for what will eventually be the ski slopes so many families have grown accustomed to visiting. That process started around 8:30 P.M. Tuesday night when conditions started to "feel right" according to General Manager Scott Crislip.

The snowmaking process means that ski and snowboard season is right around the corner. Scott told WMFD that it will be a "couple weeks at least" as they work through the snowmaking process to provide the best experience for attendees. Scott says the staff has kept busy over the offseason making sure everything is well maintained and safe and looks great.
