Women's Fund Awards Nearly $25,000 In Grants

MANSFIELD, OH - The Women’s Fund of the Richland County Foundation awarded $24,995 to nine organizations during its annual luncheon November 14. The endowed fund exceeds $1.3 million and has granted over $393,000 in the community since its inception in 1996.

The Women’s Fund grants are awarded to agencies that provide programs to empower women and girls. Grants were awarded this year to the following agencies and programs:

  • Culliver Reading Center, Girl Circle
  • Little Buckeye Children’s Museum, Single Moms at LBCH
  • Catalyst Life Services, Women’s Empowerment and Self-Care
  • Mansfield Art Center, Expressive Art for Women Veterans
  • Mansfield Richland Area Educational Foundation, Young Entrepreneurs for Girls
  • The Domestic Violence Shelter, Domestic Diva, (Hands on Home Repairs)
  • Neos Dance Theatre, All Access Program
  • Mary McLeod-Bethune, Expression of a Legacy
  • Kingdom Grace Fellowship Church, Mansfield Women’s Empowerment Summit

During the lunch the Women’s Fund also announced Mary McDonald was awarded the JoAnn Dutton Volunteer Community Service Award. The award was named in honor of JoAnn Dutton, former executive director of the Mansfield YWCA. It celebrates and honors women who devote a significant amount of time and energy in a meaningful way to local charitable organizations.

McDonald volunteers at numerous organizations including Providence Baptist Church, Alzheimer's Association, Area Agency on Aging, Mary McLeod-Bethune Intervention and Enrichment Center, Community Action Senior Outreach Program, Neighborhood Watch and with the “Yes We Can Seniors,” a senior group she founded nearly a decade ago.

The Richland County Foundation, a not-for-profit 501(c) (3) organization, was established in 1945 as a way for individuals to pool and invest their gifts for the long-term good of Richland County and its residents.
