GALION, OH- The Galion Fill the Cruiser event collected lots of donations for the community on Saturday.

The event was held at the Discount Drug Mart on Carter Road in Galion.  It encouraged shoppers to donate money and other items to "fill the cruiser" with donations from 9am-5pm.

Patrolman, Steve Knapp said that the event benefits the local community.

"We're out here to help the community, the families and kids in the community.  We're taking toys, hats, coats, gloves, non-perishable food items and monetary donations," Knapp said.

Knapp hopes that this year's event is even more successful than in previous years.

At 11am, Knapp said that the "back seat is about full and we've done pretty well on our monetary donations this year already."
