Mansfield Police K9 Richy Receives Protective Vest

MANSFIELD, OH - K9 Richy of the Mansfield Police Department received a bullet and stab protective vest on Tuesday. 

The vest was provided via donation by the non-profit organization Vested Interest In K9s, Inc. 

The vest was sponsored by the Richland County Prosecutor Gary D. Bishop. The vest contains the words "This gift of protection provided by the Richland County Prosecutor". 

Vested Interest In K9s, Inc is a 501c (3) charity located in East Taunton, MA. The organization's mission is to provide bullet and stab protective vests and other assistance to dogs of law enforcement and related agencies throughout the United States. 

Each K9 vest has a value between $1,744 - $2,283 and a five-year warranty and weighs 4-5 pounds. 

An estimated 30,000 K9s are working in Law Enforcement in the United States.
