MANSFIELD, OH - The Richland County Foundation Board of Trustees approved a plan to invest in downtown Mansfield called "Mansfield Rising" during its December meeting.

The Foundation is spearheading the plan based on its new, creative ideas on civic investment strategies, presenting it to other organizations for adoption including Mansfield City Council, the Richland County Commissioners, Richland Area Chamber of Commerce, and others. The "Mansfield Rising" plan is based on a previous endeavor called "SXSW419."

In 2017, the Richland County Foundation picked 15 individuals to attend the South by Southwest Conference (SXSW) in Austin, Texas, with the intention of creating an investment strategy for the city. The insight gained from this conference helped generate ideas and inspire a new plan to help attract growth to the Mansfield area. With the help of the Greater Ohio Policy Center, the Richland County Foundation guided and nurtured many ideas to become a fully-fledged plan.

The "Mansfield Rising" Plan will be available to the public in February.
