MANSFIELD, OH - The North End Community Improvement Collaborative, or NECIC, Inc., will be launching a microloan program through a grant from the Ohio CDC Association and area community partners. The microloan program will help to support entrepreneurs and small business owners within the Mansfield area.

"We've received funding to provide training, technical assistance, and microloans to small start-up organizations," said NECIC Executive Director Deanna West-Torrence. "Loans may range up to $1,000, and poor credit may not be a barrier. In fact, the program's goal is to assist potential low-income and minority small business owners in exploring the concepts of entrepreneurship, to determine if entrepreneurship is a pathway out of poverty."

Applicants can use the money for equipment, supplies, or other miscellaneous items that may help in creating a new business in the area. To qualify for a microloan, aspiring entrepreneurs must complete the Business Plan Writing Course. Classes will take place every Tuesday and Thursday from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM at NECIC, located at 134 North Main Street in Mansfield. The first class is set to take place on January 31st, and graduation from the course is scheduled for February 28th.
