Ontario, Mansfield Police Respond To Fatal Traffic Crash

ONTARIO, OH - The Ontario & Mansfield Police Departments are currently investigating a fatal crash that took place Wednesday morning. 

Ontario Police initially received a 911 call from 909 Landings Court regarding a reported disturbance between two males. Police were dispatched to assist. 

One male left in a white Hyundai Sonata which was owned by the caller, without her consent, turning south on Home Road. The car was traveling down Home Road at 70 miles per hour and continued across West 4th Street running a red light. 

The vehicle then lost control and struck several parked cars and a utility pole. The vehicle came to a rest on its top. The driver was ejected. 

Two explosions occurred from the power pole and the vehicle briefly caught fire. Officers were able to extinguish the fire and provided care for the Ejected driver until EMS arrived. 

Home Road is closed between West Fourth Street and Nussbaum Parkway as crews work on the scene.

The crash is currently still under investigation by the Mansfield Police Department.
