MANSFIELD, OH - This Valentine's Day three couples appeared at the Mansfield Municipal Courthouse to celebrate their love in a big way.

They were married by Judge Frank Ardis Jr. for only the cost of a few cans of food. The program has been going on for 9 years now; every Valentine's Day couples have the opportunity to get married in a community ceremony, and the ceremony is free. The court simply asks that each couple brings with them a bag of food to donate to food pantries in Richland County.

This year Richard Remington and Margie Taylor, Jeremey Scanlon and Arionna Elliott, and Nathan Feagin and Kiauna Lattimore were joined in marriage by Judge Ardis. The ceremony included the exchange of rings and a kiss, and each couple walked away with a valid legal marriage certificate as well as a bouquet of flowers.

"I think it's an enjoyable event for myself as a judge," said Judge Ardis. "Performing wedding ceremonies is probably one of the best things we can do and the most enjoyable things we could do, especially on Valentine's day."

Judge Ardis says today he is celebrating his 44th Valentine's day with his wife. He has performed 312 weddings total since 2010, 28 of which were a part of the Valentine's Day Community Ceremony program.
